Certification of its Quality System in accordance with UNI EN ISO 9001:2008
The San Daniele del Friuli prosciuttificio (delicatessen specialising in hams) and the Romans d'Isonzo salumificio (delicatessen specialising in cured meats) have this certificate, issued by the International Organization for Standardization, which certifies the company's ability to meet specific organisational requirements that allow it to obtain products conforming to defined specifications and applicable regulatory requirements.
This is an internationally recognised system which aims to increase customer satisfaction.
The BRC (British Retail Consortium) Global Standard for food products and the IFS (International Food Standard) are specific standards for safety systems, aimed at guaranteeing the conformity of suppliers and demonstrating the ability of companies to ensure the quality and safety of their food products.
They are the most common operational tool used by all those involved in the food industry, and they take into consideration all health, hygiene, organisational and structural aspects involved, more or less directly, in the production process.
The BRC represents all major British retailers and has developed a Technical Standard to help its own members to fully satisfy their legal obligations and to protect the consumer by providing them with a common platform for checking all companies that supply retailers with branded products.
The Federal Union of German Trade Associations (BDH) has issued the IFS standard in response to similar demands by the German retail purchasing consortiums. Following this, the IFS standard was also adopted by the French association, FDC (Fédération du Commerce et de la Distribution). The advanced level obtained by Morgante is the highest food industry standard.
Considered a necessary requirement for operating in the sector, these standards represent, above all, a great opportunity to reassure trade buyers of the company's solid quality and safety policies.
The Morgante sites in Romans d'Isonzo and San Daniele del Friuli have obtained both standards.
Authorisation to export to the United States and Japan
The San Daniele prosciuttificio has been granted authorisation by the U.S.D.A. (United States Department of Agriculture). To export meat products to the United States of America, the company must be entered on a special list drawn up by the Ministry of Health, following a specific procedure involving the local and regional veterinary authorities.
Moreover, the Morgante sites in Romans d'Isonzo and San Daniele del Friuli have similar authorisations for Japan to those in place for the United States.
HACCP - Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point
HACCP is an internationally recognised operational policy, required by EC regulations, for the prevention or minimisation of health risks in the preparation process of food and drinks. The HACCP method assesses all possible alternatives for identifying more efficient controls and preventive actions. Through a self-control plan that identifies and monitors critical control points throughout production, the company is able to ensure the minimisation of risks deriving from potential contaminating agents.
By drawing up sampling plans for analytical controls and checking procedures which establish limits of acceptability conforming to internal standards, the self-control system also acts as a guarantee of the constant quality of the finished product, to the benefit of the client.
The "Crossed Grain" label is intended for all pre-packaged foods that have been certified suitable for consumption by those with coeliac disease and with a gluten content of less than 20 ppm.
The suitability assessment is carried out by the AIC (Italian Coeliacs Association) and is based on a detailed specification involving the different production phases. The frankfurters in the new "I Classici" and "Morghi" lines and cooked ham portions are certified as gluten free.
Prosciutto di San Daniele DOP
Prosciutto di San Daniele is a PDO product monitored by the Protection Consortium, of which Morgante has been a member since 1985 with registration number 42.
The branding takes place after thirteen months of maturation and only after the controls and inspections laid down in the consortium regulations and applied by the Istituto Nord Est Qualità (INEQ). This is the organisation authorised by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry which certifies that the product conforms to Article 10 of (EEC) Regulation no. 2081/92.
